Prototyping

Prototyping is a critical stepping stone in any product development process. Whether it’s a form/function model or a high-quality prototype enables key design and engineering decisions early in the cycle. In today’s world, with the proliferation of readily available rapid prototyping services and technologies, creating the right prototype can be a challenging task. All the various options can easily confuse even a seasoned engineer, and a wrong choice may even lead to the wrongfully scrapping of a good concept.

Tri-Power takes a turnkey approach to prototyping. Our in-house prototype manufacturing capabilities, combined with industry experience and vendor partnerships, give us a competitive edge. From plastics to composites, aluminum to stainless steel, we deliver solutions through CAD/CAM design services, 3D printing, forming, and advanced CNC machining technologies.

Form and Function Prototypes

Form and Function prototypes allow clients to experience the first physical version of a design. Form prototyping explores shapes and sizes using different rapid prototyping services, while function prototypes test real-world performance and mechanical operation. On the other hand, function prototypes are created to pick out a motor, test the functionality of a hinge, or test any other physical function of the design. With Tri-Power’s substantial experience across multiple prototype manufacturing methods, including medical device prototyping and consumer product prototyping, we guide clients toward cost-effective solutions that achieve project goals.

Advanced Prototypes

One of the critical steps of the 13485 process is validation. Validation is the process of making sure that there is objective evidence that the user's needs are met. It is usually done by tests, inspections, and in some cases, cadaver labs. When it comes to medical device prototyping and validation requirements,  parts must be made as they would in production. With our engineering expertise and advanced machining, Tri-Power delivers complex geometries that support ISO 13485 validation requirements while keeping costs down and lead times short.
